So Much to Write About, Where Do I Start? Food!!

I have wanted to get back on here, but as I said before in the last blog,...busy, busy, busy.  I really don't know where to start. Do I chronicle my everyday life?  Write about my favorite recipes I like to make?  Household tips?  Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman, said to just write even though you have writer's block, so here I go.   So much to write about. The first part of this week has brought me trying to figure out my food menu for the next 4 weeks.  I don't like to do this.  It is all I can do to sit down (that's another topic) and force myself to go through multiple recipes and decide what we are going to eat for the next 4 weeks.  It really makes my life a lot easier.  I don't know what I am complaining about.

Here is how it goes:

I have a big black binder with dividers for each week.  I list all the ingredients for 5 recipes a week on a piece of notebook paper (that's my shopping list).  I put the recipes behind the shopping list.  I do this for each week.  Of course, life happens and I may have to change and adapt recipes for a certain week.  Each Monday, I take my made-out shopping list in my folder, make a copy with my printer, and voila!  There is my shopping list.  I rotate every 4 weeks.  This allows us to try different recipes, too.

Accountant man says this is a great way to "budget" (I hate that word) our grocery money.  Luckily, drama girl and sports fanantic boy are not picky (I don't know how that happened), and I can try different things.

Still not finished with it....next time maybe I will blog about my family. :)  Stay tuned.....

  1. Hey Kristi! Great job! Thanks for the great idea on the menu planning. I so need to do that now that I'm backing in the working world. I just started a blog as well. It's definitely a work in progress. Best wishes with your blog. I'll check back often!

  2. Wow, good job! I tried this once, but I didn't do a very good job of sticking with it. It would definitely make life easier! Hmmm...
